Fire Protection
The Upper Mountain Fire Company provides fire protection to the Town of Lewiston primarily with its Engine and Quint. Upper Mountain's Rescue also has pumping capabilities, but is primarily used for scene support, lighting, and for filling SCBA bottles with its cascade. Upper Mountain also provides rehabilitation for responding companies with its secondary ambulance.
Technical Rescue
With the Niagara Gorge in its district at Devil's Hole State Park and the constant work on the New York State Power Authority Dam and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, the Upper Mountain Fire Company has become proficient in High-Angle Rope Rescue. Upper Mountain also has the capabilities to provide initial response for vehicle extrication, trench rescue and minimal compromises to structures.
Emergency Medical Services
Upper Mountain has the capability to respond to medical emergencies with its 2 Ambulances and flycar. The 2 Ambulances and flycar are stocked with Advanced Life Support equipment, drugs, and narcotics that are able to be used by its ALS personnel. The remainder of Upper Mountain's apparatus are capable of handling any Basic Life Support call as all are stocked with BLS equipment, defibrillator, and oxygen. Upper Mountain provides EMS with 2 Paramedics, 6 EMT- Critical Care personnel, 2 EMT-Intermediate personnel, and 20 EMT-Basic personnel.
Haz-Mat
The Upper Mountain Fire Company is a member of the Town of Lewiston Haz-Mat Commission. Its primary responsibility with the Commission is to provide EMS services for personnel and patients. The Upper Mountain Fire Company has the only ambulance in New York that is stocked with Mark I kits for exposure to a nerve agent or a similar toxin.
Mutual Aid
The Upper Mountain Fire Company is a member of the Niagara County Mutual Aid Agreement and provides Mutual Aid to the surrounding areas for any service that Upper Mountain provides, including Fire Suppression, Technical Rescue, Advance Life Support -EMS / Basic Life Support -EMS Transports, and Advance Life Support EMS Intercepts. Upper Mountain provides Mutual Aid for the following agencies:
