Budget And Funding
The Upper Mountain Fire Company is contracted by the Town of Lewiston, NY and operates on a modest budget that requires additional fundraising. Its contract along with the contracts of the Lewiston Fire Company #1, Lewiston Fire Company #2, Pekin Fire Company, Ransomville Fire District, and the Sanborn Fire Company save the taxpayers of the Town of Lewiston and the Village of Lewiston millions of dollars in comparison to a career department. Upper Mountain also receives money from the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the protection of part of the Tuscarora Indian Nation. The remaining funding of the Upper Mountain Fire Company comes in the form of donations and our annual fund drive. Upper Mountain Fire Company answers the most calls of all the Lewiston Fire Companies and receives the least amount of income from both local and federal governments.
